The Boulders entered Sunday’s outing one game behind Quebec for first place in the Can-Am League. With their 7-2 win over the Aigles and a 3-1 Capitals loss, it’s tied up once again at the top.

Trois-Rivières opened the day in the exact same way they opened last night’s contest. Daniel Mateo went yard and put Rockland in an early hole. The Boulders quickly dug themselves out of that hole with four runs in the bottom half.

Dylan Tice would single and score on a balk to even it up. Jared McDonald roped a single of his own to drive in Cody Regis while Mike Montville brought home Marcus Nidiffer and McDonald on a triple. The hit parade wouldn’t end there.

In the second, Kelvin Ramos hit his first career Boulders homer to give his team a 5-1 lead. Aigles starter Pat Peterson faced only two more batters before getting pulled. He finished with five hits, five earned runs, two strikeouts and two walks.

In the third, Regis singled off ex-Boulder Ethan Elias to score Montville and Daniel Arribas. Elias would go another 3.2 innings and conclude with three hits, two earned runs, three strikeouts and two walks.

Rockland ace Richard Salazar didn’t last much longer, ending with four innings, two hits, one earned run and three strikeouts. Justin Topa provided solid relief in the fifth.

Tommy Lawrence threw the sixth and allowed a run on a Javier Herrera double to make it 7-2. Julio Martinez scored on the play.

The other Boulders relievers to make appearances were newbie Nick Sarianides who tossed the seventh and eighth and Alex Farina who pitched the ninth. Owen Boon and Ryan Leach came out of the pen for Trois-Rivières.

Rockland will take the victory into the All-Star break before traveling to Ottawa for a four-game series with the Champions. First pitch on Thursday is set for 7 p.m.
