Champions Even Series Against Boulders

The Rockland Boulders lost the second game of their series against the Ottawa Champions by a score of 12-4. Ari Kaufman (0-4) started for the Boulders and gave up 10 runs in five innings to take the loss. Steve Borkowski (7-5) was the winning Ottawa starter and also went five frames but only surrendered four runs.

The Boulders fell into an early hole after Steve Brown singled home Steve Nyisztor in the first inning. The deficit grew in the second after Ottawa put up a seven spot in the inning capped off by a three-run homer by Brown giving the Champions a 7-0 lead.

Rockland battled back in the fifth starting with an RBI single by Mike Fransoso to drive in Mike Fransoso. With the bases loaded later in the inning, Joe Maloney hit a bases-clearing double to make the score 7-4.

However, Ottawa got those four runs back in the sixth inning with Boulder reliever Nick Sarianides on the mound to extend their lead. The Champions added one more run in the eighth and the Boulders would be shut out in the ninth.

The Boulders are now 41-23 and will look to bounce back in the third game of the series tomorrow at 7 p.m.
