In their third game of a four game series the Boulders looked to get back on the winning track after a big loss last night. They sent Bo Budkevics to hill vs. the Ottawa Champions pitcher Phillippe Aumont.

The Boulders wasted little time taking the early lead 2-0 in the first inning. After back to back singles by Mike Fransoso and Dylan Tice, Cody Regis singled down the first base line driving in Fransoso and advancing Tice to third base. The next batter, Joe Maloney, hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Tice.

The score would remain 2-0 until the top of the 3rd inning. After a flyout to center by Tice, Regis walked followed by a single from Joe Maloney putting runners at the corners for Marcus Nidiffer. He singled to right, scoring Regis and making it a 3-0 lead.  The next batter was Jared McDonald who grounded into a double play. Maloney scored on the play to make the lead 4-0 after 3 innings.

In the top of the 5th with one out Cody Regis walked to bring Joe Maloney up to the plate. Maloney would follow Regis’s walk with a two run homer that went outside of the Champions’ ballpark to make the lead 6-0.

Looking to extend the lead even further Joe Maloney lead off the 8th inning with a walk. After a popup to shortstop by Nidiffer and a wild pitch putting Maloney at 2nd, Jared McDonald hit a double to left scoring Maloney. Mike Montville followed McDonald’s double with a long two run home run to make the lead 9-0 after 8 innings.

That would be the final score of the game as the Champions went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 9th inning. Bo Budkevics got the win after going 6.0 innings allowing only 4 hits, 1 walk and striking out 2 batters once retiring 9 batters in a row. The Boulders improve their record to 42-23 and look to win the series tomorrow at 1:35pm vs. Ottawa.
