The Rockland Boulders announced today the start of the 2017 Junior Broadcaster Competition, presented by the NY529 College Savings Program. Submissions for the competition will be open from now until Friday, August 11; with three finalists competing live on the air as part of the Boulders Broadcast Network.

Seth Cantor, the “Voice of the Boulders” and the team’s Assistant General Manager, is once again enthusiastic about this contest, “What an exciting opportunity for young and aspiring broadcasters to learn the tools of the trade and get such a valuable experience calling live professional baseball at Palisades Credit Union Park. I have been quite impressed by our contestants over the last few years and I am looking forward to seeing what this year’s crop brings!”

Aspiring broadcasters can enter by emailing Seth at scantor@rocklandboulders.com. Contestants will be asked to provide their Name, Age, City/State, and a short essay explaining why they want to be a broadcaster. Kids ages 7-14 are eligible for the competition.

The three finalists will be announced on Monday, August 14 with each competitor being invited to call one inning of color commentary during a game with the “Voice of the Boulders” as part of Rockland’s home games on Tuesday August 15, Wednesday August 16, and Monday August 21. Each finalist will also receive a commemorative Boulders prize pack, while throwing out the ceremonial first pitch on the date they will broadcast. Of the three, Cantor will then select the winner, who will be invited back for the Saturday August 26 Eleven Sports broadcast when the Boulders host the Sussex County Miners. That individual will have the opportunity to call play-by-play with potential exposure in up to 60-million homes on all major television carriers not only nationwide, but internationally in Singapore and Taiwan!

In addition to nearly 40-broadcasts on Eleven Sports, the Boulders Broadcast Network carries all Rockland Boulders home games live on Real Country AM-1420, HudsonRiverRadio.com, with all contests being shown on www.CanAmLeague.tv for free.
