The Rockland Boulders beat the first place Quebec Capitales 5-4 to tie them for the league lead. Starter Chris Carmain pitched 5 1/3 innings of three run baseball. Quebec’s Murilo Gouvea went six innings, also giving up three runs.

Quebec struck early with a two-run home run by Yurisbel Gracial in the first inning. The Capitales added a third run in the following inning after Adam Ehrlich singled to drive in James McOwen.

The Boulders got their revenge in the fourth as Joe Maloney homered with Dylan Tice and Mike Fransoso on base to tie the game. They took the lead on a wild pitch that allowed Maloney to score a go-ahead run in the eighth inning.

However, Jordan Lennerton tied the game back up with a solo shot in the bottom of the inning for the Capitales.

The game would go into extra innings and the Boulder offense would get right to work. Maloney and Marcus Nidiffer led off with singles. Mike Montville was intentionally walked to load the bases bringing Daniel Arribas to the plate. The third baseman hit a sac fly to score Maloney putting Rockland up 5-4.

Closer Jon Velasquez (3-0) pitched the bottom of the tenth and secured the win while Brett Lee (2-3) took the loss.

The Boulders return home on Thursday at 7:05pm to start a four game series against Ottawa.  Great seats are available by sliding over to RocklandBoulders.com
