Five Home Runs Leads Offense

The Boulders jumped out to a hot start in the first inning with four runs including a Jared McDonald two-run home run.  Their lead continued to build with five more runs in the second thanks to two more homers.  One of the home runs was a grand slam by the league home run leader, Joe Maloney, and the other was a solo shot by Marcus Nidiffer.

Ottawa finally got on the board in the third with a two-run shot by Matt Helms to make the score 9-2. However, the Boulders erased that with a three-run frame in the fourth. Mike Fransoso’s solo bomb came first followed by Mike Montville’s two-run blast.

The Champions got a run in the sixth off an RBI triple by Alex Venditti, but Rockland erased that in the bottom of the inning with a sac fly by Montville to score Maloney.

Tyson Gillies drove in a run in the next inning with an RBI single scoring Daniel Bick. However, the Boulders exploded with a six-run bottom inning to give them the 19-4 lead. Rockland added four scores in the eighth as well.

Markus Solbach (7-3) pitched a strong game going seven innings and allowed four runs to earn the win. Raydel Sanchez (1-4) took the loss after surrendering 12 runs in 3.2 innings of work. The Boulders will go for the sweep in this four-game series tomorrow with first pitch set for 5 p.m.
