The Rockland Boulders won the fourth and final game of their series against the Ottawa Champions by a score of 7-4. Bo Budkevics (6-2) had a quality start going six innings and allowing just two runs. Austin Chrismon (8-4) struggled as the Ottawa starter giving up seven runs in as many innings to take the loss.

Ottawa struck first in the top of the first with a two-run home run by Steve Brown with Matt Helms on base to give the Champions an early lead. However, the Boulders bounced back in the second inning.

Jared McDonald walked and stole second base to get into scoring position. He was driven home by Mikael Mogues with an RBI single to get Rockland on the board. Aaron Wilson singled as the next batter to get a second runner on base and both Mogues and Wilson scored on a base hit by Mike Fransoso and a pair of errors by the Champions.

Joe Maloney’s solo homer in the third inning increased the Boulders lead. In the bottom of the sixth, Mike Montville led off with a double and McDonald singled to put runners on the corners. Daniel Arribas would then ground into a double play, but Montville still came home to make the score 5-2.

Alex Vinditti’s solo homer in the seventh for the Champions cut into Rockland’s lead, but Fransoso’s two-run shot in the bottom of the frame quickly erased that. Ottawa tried to rally in the ninth with an RBI single by Tyler Nordgren to score Daniel Grauer, but the score would finish 7-4.

The Boulders will have an off day tomorrow before traveling to the Sussex County Miners for a two-game series. The team then returns home on Thursday to begin a four-game series with the Trois-Rivieres Aigles.
