Maloney's 26th Home Run of the Season Sparks Offense

The Boulders entered tonight’s game after winning the last five in a row and looking to extend it to six. They would do just that with a 7-3 victory.

Rockland got after Sussex County starter Kris Regas in the first. Dylan Tice reached on a single and Marcus Nidiffer brought him in on a two-run jack. The Miners would get one back on a Ruby Silva single which scored Adron Chambers.

Jamie Keefe and company made it 3-1 in the second via an Aaron Wilson solo shot. The bats would remain silent for a few innings due in part to solid work from Regas and Richard Salazar.

Wilson drove in Nidiffer on a single to get the Boulders their fourth run in the sixth. Steven DeLaCruz allowed the hit, however Regas was credited with the damage.

Regas ended with 5.1 innings pitched, four hits, four earned runs, three strikeouts and four walks. Salazar on the other hand concluded with 5.2 innings, two hits, one earned run, eight strikeouts and four walks.

Rockland wasn’t finished yet as they would add another three runs. Joe Maloney hit a two-run blast in the seventh, his 26th on the campaign. Mikael Mogues drove in run No. 7 in the eighth on a sacrifice fly.

Sussex County got two across in the ninth, but it wouldn’t be enough. Closer Jon Velasquez cleaned up the mess to secure the win.

Rockland will take on the Miners tomorrow night to wrap up the series. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Skylands Stadium.
