The Rockland Boulders completed a two-game sweep of the Sussex County Miners with an 8-5 win. Sussex County got on the board in the first inning in large part to a leadoff triple by Adron Chambers. Alexi Colon’s sac fly scored Chambers for the first run of the game.

The Boulders got their first runs of the game courtesy of a two-run double by Joe Maloney in the third. Mike Fransoso singled and Dylan Tice walked to get on base. Both scored on the extra base hit with all of the action coming with two outs in the inning.

The Miners had a similar third frame. Jarred Mederos singled and Brian Mayer walked to start the inning. The two runners scored on a double by Colon giving the Miners a 3-2 lead. However, the Boulders took the lead back in the fifth.

Fransoso led off with a walk and Maloney reached on an E5. Mike Montville’s sac fly scored Fransoso for the first run of the inning. As the next batter, Jared McDonald doubled to add the two other runs.

In the eighth inning, Mikael Mogues homered with Daniel Arribas on base to extend the Boulder lead. Alex Herceg went back-to-back with a home run of his on to make the score 8-2. Sussex County scored three runs in the bottom of the inning but that was all they could get the rest of the game.

Chris Carmain (5-3) took the win with his six-inning, three-run start. Gianni Zayas was the Miners starter and gave up five runs in his six-inning start. Rockland will now return home for a 7 pm game against the Trois-Rivieres Aigles.
