Maloney Earns CanAm Player of the Week Award

The Rockland Boulders and the CanAm League announced today that outfielder Joe Maloney has been named the CanAm League’s Pointstreak Player of the Week.

 

Maloney, a 2017 CanAm League All Star, has had an amazing 2017 season so far, in his second go round with the team. His twenty five home runs and seventy eight RBI’s not only lead the Boulders, but currently leads the entire CanAm League in those respective categories as well.  Over the past 10 games, Maloney is currently batting .429 with five home runs, fifteen hits, sixteen RBI’s, and has scored eleven runs in thirty five at bats.  A native of Aston, Pa, Maloney, was originally drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 10th round of the 2011 MLB June Amateur Draft, reaching as high as high A ball with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans of the Carolina League.  Maloney would spend the next two seasons after with the Boulders, before being picked up by the Minnesota Twins organization in 2016, reaching as high as double A with the Chattanooga Lookouts of the Southern League.

 

Maloney and the rest of the Boulders will return home on Thursday, August 10th, as they continue their “Sprint for the Playoffs” against the Trois-Rivieres Aigles at 7:05pm at Palisades Credit Union Park.
