After a scoreless first inning, the Jackals put Rockland in a deep hole. With two outs in the second, Taylor Brennan walked, Ryan Retz singled, and Max Casper picked up a base hit to load the bases. Johnny Bladel walked to bring home the first run. Rylan Sandoval grounded a ball to third base but an E5 allowed the bases to clear and score three more runs. The fifth and final run of the inning came off a double by Brian Burgamy to score Sandoval.

The Jackals added another run in the next inning with a solo home run by Alex Martin to make the score 6-0. Both Rockland’s Richard Salazar and New Jersey’s Lee Sosa would shut the offenses down until the seventh inning when the Boulder bats finally came alive.

New Jersey brought in reliever Kuehl McEachern and the decision backfired. Rockland loaded the bases with a single by Marcus Nidiffer and two walks to Mike Montville and Jared McDonald. Daniel Arribas singled to drive in Nidiffer and keep the bases loaded with no outs. Mikael Mogues flied out to center to score Montville and Aaron Wilson did the same for McDonald to cut into the Jackal lead to 6-3.

However, the Jackals bounced back in the next inning as Brian Burgamy struck out but managed to reach first base. A passed ball and wild pitch moved him to third and Joe Dunigan’s single increased the deficit, which the Boulders would be unable to rally from. Dylan Tice drove in a run in the ninth but it was not nearly enough as Rockland fell 7-4.

Salazar (4-3) took the loss, despite only two of his six runs being earned, while Sosa (8-2) won the game. Tomorrow’s game will begin at 6:30 pm here at Palisades Credit Union Park.
