The Rockland Boulders suffered a 6-2 loss at the hands of the Sussex County Miners. Rain forced the game to end early after six innings. Markus Solbach (9-4) lost the game after giving up six runs in 5.2 innings. Michael Tamburino (5-5) won the game for the Miners after going all six innings and surrendering both Rockland runs.

After Mike Fransoso and Dylan Tice both walked in the first, Tamburino balked putting both runners in scoring position. Marcus Nidiffer later grounded out to score Fransoso giving the Boulders an early lead.

CJ Retherford tied the game with a second inning home run. In the third inning, Carlos Lopez led off with a single for the Miners and moved to third on an error by Fransoso during Jay Baum’s at-bat. Rubi Silva’s single gave his team their first lead of the game.

Sussex County continued the strong hitting in the fourth starting with a leadoff double by Alexi Colon. Nate Irving drove him home with a base hit and Lopez’s RBI double brought in another run to give the Miners a 4-1 lead. The lead grew with a solo home run by Chase McDonald in the fifth.

The Boulders finally got the offense going again in the sixth. Jared McDonald reached on an error and Daniel Arribas doubled to make the score 6-2. However, the Miners quickly erased the score when Jarred Mederos led off the bottom of the inning with a single and scored on a double by Lopez.

The game went into rain delay in the seventh and would eventually be called giving the Boulders the loss. Rockland returns home for two more games against the Miners starting tomorrow at 6:30 pm.
