Rockland’s Offense Struggles Allowing Series to Continue

With a chance to sweep the New Jersey Jackals, the Rockland Boulders lost 7-1. Lee Sosa (10-4) pitched five shutout innings to win the game for the Jackals. Rockland’s Markus Solbach (11-5) pitched well giving up just two runs in 5.1 innings, but took the loss.

The Jackals first run came in the fourth. With two outs, Joe Dunigan doubled and Daniel Rockett singled to put runners on the corners. Dunigan then scored on a failed fielder’s choice for Alex Martin’s at-bat.

Art Charles led off the sixth with a double to get the Jackals’ offense going again. Dunigan later doubled to give his team their second run. After stealing third base, a wild pitch brought the number five hitter home.

With the bases loaded in the seventh inning, reliever Matt Kostalos walked Brian Burgamy to increase New Jersey’s lead to 4-0. Rockland attempted a rally in the bottom of the eighth. Walks to Jared McDonald and Mikael Mogues and an E4 loaded the bases for Dylan Tice. Tice’s sac fly got the Boulders on the board but that was all the team could produce.

A two-run home run by Charles and a solo shot from Burgamy off of Jon Velasquez sealed the game forcing a Game 4 to be played tomorrow at 5 pm.
