The Rockland Boulders will be in the CanAm Championship for the second straight season after winning Game 4 of the first playoff series against the New Jersey Jackals by a score of 9-1. David Fischer (4-1), who was not acquired until August, had a strong game by pitching 6.2 innings and allowed just one unearned run. Isaac Pavlik (10-6) was the losing pitcher for the Jackals after giving up four runs in as many innings.

New Jersey actually scored first with a no-contact second inning. Joe Dunigan led off with a walk and a wild pitch and pair of passed balls allowed him to cross home plate. However, a potent fourth inning for the Boulders started the team’s strong game.

The Jackals started by getting the first two outs of the innings, but Pavlik’s pitching quickly went south. Cody Regis homered to tie the game. Mike Montville then walked and Jared McDonald’s RBI double gave Rockland the lead. Daniel Arribas singled in another run followed by an RBI triple from Aaron Wilson giving the Boulders a 4-1 lead.

Rockland runs continued to be scored in the fifth and eighth inning. Dylan Tice led off with a double. Reliever Jose Jose’s error brought him home and allowed Marcus Nidiffer to reach second base. Regis singled as the next batter to put runners on the corners for Montville. The right fielder flew out, but not before a wild pitch made the score 6-1.

In the eighth, Regis and McDonald each singled. An E9 allowed Regis to score and put J-Mac and Arribas on second and third. Wilson then singled in two more runs giving him three RBIs on the day and giving the game a final score of 9-1 as the bullpen closed out the rest of Fischer’s game.

The Boulders will next move on to the Championship Series Against the Quebec Capitales. Game 1 will be played at Palisades Credit Union Park at 7pm on Tuesday.
