The Boulders fell into an early hole after Jordan Lennerton slugged a three-run home run off of starter Bo Budkevics in the first inning. However, Rockland did manage to score in the bottom of the frame when Marcus Nidiffer drove in Joe Maloney with a triple off of Lazaro Blanco.

Bo’s struggles continued into the second. James McOwen and Marcus Knecht each singled and advanced on an error by the pitcher. Yordan Manduley drove in a run with a single and Philippe Craig-St-Louis added another with a double. Lennerton continued to be a thorn in Rockland’s side with a two-run single knocking Budkevics out of the game.

Despite a 7-1 deficit, the Boulders battled back with four solo home runs. CanAm Player of the Year Joe Maloney started the rally with a shot in the third. Cody Regis and Jared McDonald each added homers of their own in the fourth. Finally, Mike Fransoso belted a dinger in the seventh to cut Quebec’s lead to 7-5.

Despite the power bats and 7.2 shutout innings from the bullpen, the Boulder rally would fall short. Budkevics (6-4) took the loss while Miles Moeller (5-3) was the winning pitcher. The team will have a chance to even the series behind ace Justin Topa tomorrow at 7 pm before the series moves to Quebec.
