Strong pitching from Ryan Deemes was not enough to earn Rockland the win as the Boulders’ bats were quiet in a 5-0 shutout loss to the Trois-Riviѐres Aigles on Sunday. Deemes pitched 6.0 innings, allowing five hits, one walk and two runs (one earned) while striking out eight.

It was a pitchers’ duel between Deemes and Trois-Riviѐres starter and pitching coach Matthew Rusch, who got the win in his 2018 debut after being added to the Aigles active roster before the game.

The Boulders had runners in scoring position in the second, fourth and sixth innings but could not bring them in to score. Kevin Krause, Cody Regis, Marcus Nidiffer and Mikael Mogues recorded Rockland’s five hits of the game.

Rockland travels to Québec for a four-game series against the Capitales starting Monday. The Boulders return home on Friday, June 1, against the New Jersey Jackals
