The Boulders’ bats came alive in striking fashion to earn Rockland it’s fifth-straight win in a 10-2 victory over the New Jersey Jackals. Justin Topa returned to the mound for his first start since returning from the Disabled List, committing seven innings of strong pitching to the effort.

Mikael Mogues—who hit the go-ahead two-run home run to secure a comeback win and series sweep for the Boulders on Thursday—put Rockland up early on Friday with a long three-run home run in the top of the second. Those three runs would be enough for the Boulders as Rockland held the lead for the rest of the game.

Rockland struck again in the fourth inning as Jared McDonald hit a two-RBI triple. Marcus Nidiffer hit a three-run home run of his own in the fifth to give Rockland a 8-1 lead. The Boulders then scored two more in the seventh after singles by Kevin Krause, Mike Montville, Jared McDonald and JC Rodriguez.

Topa pitched seven innings of two-run baseball, allowing eight hits and no walks.

The Boulders play game two of the three-game series against the Jackals Saturday at 6:00 p.m. They return to Rockland to face the Sussex County Miners on Tuesday with game one of a doubleheader starting at 10:30 a.m.
