In a matter of one week, there has been a bit of turnover in the Boulders pitching staff: Justin Topa’s contract was purchased by the Rangers and Ryan Deemes was ruled out for the rest of the season. It has set the stage for others to step up and fill the void. That’s exactly what relief pitcher David Palladino did on Saturday night in a win over Salina Stockade.

Making his first start of the season, Palladino threw five scoreless innings, walking one and striking out ten, including a string of six in a row at one point.

Runs were at a premium but Rockland was able to scratch one off in the 1st on Conrad Gregor's RBI groundout and another in the 4th on a Mike Montville sac fly.

Salina brought home one in the 6th on a Jeremy Delgado RBI groundout but didn’t score against until 2 outs in the ninth when Daniel Williams came home on a third strike wild pitch. After losing the lead for the first time in the game, Rockland came right back in the bottom half of the inning to walk it off on Conor Biernfeldt’s one-out sac fly.

It was the Boulders’ third win in a row. They’ll play the series finale tomorrow at 1:30pm.
