Starting pitchers Travis Hissong worked 5.2 solid innings and Kevin Krause drove in three runs as the Rockland Boulders bested the Quebec Capitales, 6-2, at Stade Canac in Quebec City.
Krause put the visitors on top to stay in the top of the first inning with a two-out, two run triple, driving in JC Rodriguez and Marcus Nidiffer to open a 2-0 advantage. Conrad Gregor's solo homer - his fifth of the season - capped a two-run fifth to provide insurance.
Hissong worked into the sixth inning, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out six, improving to 4-2 on the season. Nick Kennedy worked 2.1 scoreless relief frames and Matt Kostalos finished up as the Boulders have now won 2-of-3 in their seven-game road swing.
With the teams having split their first two, the four-game weekend set continues at Stade Canac on Saturday night in a 6:05 pm start.
