The Boulders fell 1-0, then won 4-3 in Wednesday’s doubleheader at Palisades Credit Union Park. Game one featured a pitcher’s duel between Rockland’s Justin Brantley and Sussex County’s David Rollins. Justin Brantley pitched a complete game in the first half of the double header, allowing just one run on two hits. After the first inning, Brantley blanked the Miners for the rest of the afternoon. Unfortunately, that one run was enough, as Rollins threw six shutout innings. Alex Demchak threw the door shut for the Miners, recording the save in a one-two-three seventh inning.

Despite losing earlier, the Boulders picked up the win in the nightcap, topping the Miners 4-3. Conor Bierfeldt launched a two-run blast down the left field line in the bottom of the first to get things going. After Sussex took a 3-2 lead, Bierfeldt mashed another shot to left, this one off the scoreboard, to tie it up 3-3. Conrad Gregor broke the tie in the fifth, lacing a solo shot to left-center to make it 4-3 Boulders, the eventual final score.
