With the Boulders down by two runs in the top of the ninth inning with two outs, a 1-1 count and two men on base, Marcus Nidiffer slammed his second three-run home run of the night over the left field wall of Skylands Stadium to make the score 8-7 at the Sussex County Miners on Wednesday. Kyle Hansen allowed the Miners to load the bases in the bottom of the ninth but then produced three swinging strikeouts in a row to put the game away—an 8-7 Rockland comeback victory.

The Boulders took an early lead, 1-0, on an RBI single by Kevin Krause in the top of the first inning. Then Nidiffer drove in his first three runs of the night on a two-out, three-run home run in the top of the fifth.

Rockland fell behind, 7-4, after allowing the Miners to score six runs in the bottom of the fifth and one in the bottom of the sixth. But in the top of the ninth inning, Reggie Wilson smacked his first home run of the year to make the score 7-5 and Nidiffer nailed his second three-run shot to take the 8-7 lead.

The Boulders continue their run toward the playoffs tomorrow in the series finale at the Miners at 7:00 p.m. Rockland returns home Friday for the final home stand of the regular season as the Boulders look to solidify their 2018 playoff positioning, opening a three-game series against the rival New Jersey Jackals at 7:00 p.m.
