Series Heads to Quebec at 1-1

Conrad Gregor's grand slam homer capped a 12-run first inning explosion as the Rockland Boulders cruised to a 21-1 victory over the Quebec Capitales in Game 2 of the Can Am League semi-finals at Palisades Credit Union Park. Gregor went 5-of-6 on the night with a pair of homers and a team-record nine RBI in the victory.

Boulders starter Brian Ernst retired Quebec without a run in the top of the first and the hosts took charge from there, making short work of Capitales starter Brett Lee. Rockland scored 10 runs off Lee on five hits and five walks before reliever Bobby Blevins came on to allow back-to-back homers to Gregor and Marcus Nidiffer to put the icing on the cake.

Home runs by Gregor (2), Nidiffer, Conor Bierfelt, and Rylan Sandoval provided the power in the 22-hit attack off a trio of Quebec hurlers. Ernst worked five scoreless innings to earn the win while Lee Sosa came on to allow one run over the final four innings to claim the save. Nidiffer had four hits on the night and Mike Montville added three.

With the series deadlocked at 1-1, the scene shifts to Quebec for the remaining contests, starting Friday night in a 7:05 pm start at Stade Quebec. Game 4 will be Saturday night at 6:05 pm and Game 5, if necessary, is slated for Sunday at 6:05 pm. The winner of this series advances to the Can Am Championships to face the winner of the Sussex County vs Trois-Rivieres series, which Sussex leads by a 2-0 count.
